How to Be More Assertive: An Essential Life Skill

We communicate for many reasons.
It’s not just about catching up, sharing experiences and congratulating or commiserating with someone.
There are times when we need to put our view across. Deliver difficult news. Make a request (or deny one). Ask for, or give, tricky feedback. Negotiate. Assert our rights and set boundaries. Request that our needs be met.
These conversations can be challenging. Sometimes we put them off or end up caving in to the wants and needs of others, creating stress for ourselves.
We’re much more likely to get what we want if we’re confident that we can state our case clearly and purposefully.
That’s why assertiveness is such a valuable life skill.
For the longest time I equated being assertive with being aggressive, but they are not the same at all.
Aggression is in-your-face, self-focused, intentionally intimidating.

The session will take place at 8pm UK time (3:00pm EDT, 12:00pm PDT). We’ll look at what it means to be assertive and I’ll provide you with an effective framework to help you develop assertiveness in a respectful way.
